ETA Journey Update {Nov 8,2023}
TL;DR
I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join 11 others in the final stage of the CEO-in-residence selection process with Regenerative Capital Group
It will be an intensive week of learning, discovering, being challenged and creating new friendships. Upon completion, 5 candidates will be offered an opportunity to partner with RCG to search, acquire, transform and grow an SMB.

Many of you have been reaching out to inquire about what my next journey will entail. Thanks for your patience and now is the right time for an update.
After a successful and rewarding five-year journey of growing an Energy Industry SaaS business, I was continuing to think about my next challenge. Rather than jumping right into the trenches, I spent the majority of June through August on the lakes of Nova Scotia with my wife, our three kids and our extended families. Having the opportunity to slow down, pause and create distraction-free memories with your children, over several months, doesn’t come around often. I also used these summer months for reading, deep thought and reflection to reinforce my conviction for the journey ahead, to find, acquire and grow a great SMB.
Returning to Alberta in early September I began actively working on my Entrepreneurship through Acquisition (ETA) process and have been energized by the conversations with searchers, new operators, and business owners. Thank you to all of the people who have been open to chatting and sharing your experiences and advice. I am grateful.
In late June a friend of mine introduced me to Regenerative Capital Group and their mission to leverage the transition of small businesses, owned by the retiring generation, to create regenerative SMBs that deliver both profit and impact supporting a regenerative economy. My first thoughts were that RCG’s values aligned with my purpose and values. This was followed by a hunger to consume and learn more about Regenerative Principles which resulted in strengthening my belief that this could be a great partnership.
I was one of a few hundred applicants across Canada when I submitted my application in mid-September. The RCG team has run a thorough and well-executed selection process over the past two months to select the best candidates who will help realize their mission. Anyone who has had the opportunity to partake in this process has most likely gained value they will leverage on their ETA journey.
During the last week of November, I have been invited to join 11 other candidates for the in-person, final stage of the CEO-in-residence selection process. It will be an intensive week of learning, discovering, being challenged and creating new friendships. After which, it will be time to focus on finding a good SMB, carry on its legacy and transition it to a Regenerative Business
